To date, no medications are approved for the treatment of the various forms of hearing loss. One reason for this is that drugs have to be applied locally to the inner ear to have a beneficial effect. But until today, there is no approved device bringing the drug into the inner ear. Bacta Implants technology enables the production of implants, fitting precisely and safe to your individual round window niche, which connects your middle and inner ear and allows inner ear therapy with minimal invasion.
Our first product will be the Round Window Niche Implant (RNI), which delivers the drug dexamethasone, approved for decades, into the inner ear to treat sudden sensorineural hearing loss (ISSHL) - colloquially known as hearing loss.
